← the real reason we built this

FOR THE INDUSTRY

More good stories get made.

When the friction goes, deals that never happened start happening: smaller studios reach stronger scripts, new voices reach real buyers, and one story can travel into every language.

One open ledger of who holds which rights. Coming soon

every fix lives in one signed agreement

INT. THE OLD SYSTEM — REWRITE

We took the industry's oldest script and gave it notes.

The way scripts get bought hasn't changed in decades. Here is what we crossed out, and what we wrote instead.

A great script waits in an inbox for a reader who never comes.

Every script is read by AI, so the right one surfaces when a buyer asks.

Send your script out and hope it doesn't end up training someone's AI.

Your script is read by AI. It is never used to train it.

Access depends on an agent, a contact, a lucky introduction.

Vetted buyers search by story. The page does the introducing.

Months of back-and-forth between lawyers before a page changes hands.

Terms agreed in advance. The deal closes on the spot. Coming soon

Prices nobody can explain, haggled behind closed doors.

One public rate card, set by the film's budget.

The film becomes a franchise. The writer sees nothing.

Sequel and spin-off payments are written into every sale. Coming soon

“We're not replacing the people who make films. We're removing everything that stands between a great page and a green light.”

— THE SCREEN-PLAI PROMISE

INT. HOW IT WORKS — CONTINUOUS

Two sides. One agreement.

  1. 01

    Get vetted

Apply as a producer, executive or financier. We check who you are and accept you before you can search the library.

  2. 02

    Describe the film

Tell our AI script consultant what you're looking for. It reads the library and explains why each script fits, trade-offs included.

  3. 03

    Pick a deal Coming soon

Licence, Option or Buy. Declare your production budget and the price is fixed. You see every existing licence on the script before you commit.

  4. 04

    Sign and shoot Coming soon

You, the writer and Screen-Plai sign the same sealed agreement. Pay in full, or a deposit now and the balance on the first day of shooting.

  1. 01

    Join and verify Coming soon

Registration is free. Verify your identity once with a passport, ID card or driving licence and a live selfie. We never store the ID images.

  2. 02

    Upload your script

Confirm it's yours. Each file is fingerprinted on upload, so every version on record is provably the one you sent. Coming soon

  3. 03

Set your terms once Coming soon

Sign your Pre-Authorisation Agreement: which deals you accept, your minimum budget, and an optional credit guarantee. We sell only inside it.

  4. 04

Get paid, then again Coming soon

Deals close on your terms through escrow. If the story becomes a franchise, follow-on payments for sequels and spin-offs are already in the contract.

INT. THE PRICE — DAY

The budget sets the price. Not the pitch meeting.

A Buy is a percentage of the declared production budget, falling as budgets rise. The final price is recalculated on the final budget, so it's fair both ways.

INT. THE CONTRACT — NIGHT

frozen = not even we can change a word

Coming soon

Written before you meet. Sealed when you sign.

Screen-Plai is in beta. Pre-Authorisation Agreements and e-signature are being built, so for now nothing is signed or sold through the site. This is how deals will work.

The writer signs a Pre-Authorisation Agreement up front, setting which rights can be sold, to whom and at what minimum budget. When a buyer's request fits inside it, Screen-Plai can close the deal immediately.

Not ready to commit? Take a 30-day first look. The script is held for you alone while you meet the writer on a recorded video call and talk through the story and your plans for it. Then decide: a full option of a year or more, an outright purchase, or walk away. Coming soon

Buyer, writer and Screen-Plai then sign one agreement. Its text is frozen and fingerprinted before anyone signs, so nobody can change a word afterwards.

EVERY DEAL INCLUDES Coming soon

  • Budget warrantyThe buyer declares the budget and proves it within 90 days of completion. If it ends higher, the buyer pays the difference.
  • Greenlight deadlineShooting starts within 12 months (under $3m) or 18 months, or unpaid rights return to the writer, who keeps the deposit.
  • Chain of titleThe writer warrants the script is original and theirs to sell.
  • Writer's creditOptional guarantee: “Story by” and a shared “Written by” stay, whoever rewrites.
  • EscrowAll payments pass through a licensed escrow provider.
  • Governing lawEnglish law, unless both parties agree another.
